Pray for Ukraine
Glory be to Jesus Christ! Glory be forever!
During these unprecedented times of war experienced in Ukraine, please endeavour to take every appropriate opportunity to remember Ukraine, its leaders, and most of all, those who are suffering as a result of the present aggression.
Our Archeparchy of Winnipeg recommends the following four initiatives to support those experiencing suffering and displacement in Ukraine.
1) Pray for Ukraine
All religious leaders and leaders of faith have appealed for prayer for the situation in Ukraine. Pope Francis called for a World Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in Ukraine on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, as well as the consecration of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Friday, March 25, 2022.
2) Donate
The Ukrainian Catholic Bishops of Canada have recommended that donations to support all aid endeavours in Ukraine go through the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA). To make a tax-deductible donation online, please click here.
3) Support Refugees
While consultation with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress is ongoing, the Archeparchy of Winnipeg is devloping initiatives on a grassroots level to support Ukrainian regugees upon their arrival to Winnipeg and Manitoba. To volunteer, offer housing, or donate, please fill out the Google Form here.
4) Learn and Know the Truth
Seek out reputable news agencies which deliver accurate information about the situation going on in Ukraine. Be sure to 'fact check', identifying sources and other articles which substantiate claims made within the news. Now more than ever is it easier to be misinformed by 'fake news'.
